Important update on gold clams

Good news! Rotorua’s Lake Ōkataina is now open seven days a week.

Biosecurity NZ and Ngāti Tarāwhai Iwi Trust have worked together to enable the cleaning stations to be open daily so the lake can re-open for angling. Biosecurity NZ and the trust will review how this is working at the end of January.

We’d like to thank anglers for their patience over the situation at Lake Ōkataina and continue to urge anglers and all users to follow the check clean dry guidance and the biosecurity rule.

An order remains in place for the Waikato. Read about that here.
