The Auckland/Waikato Angler Access Fund is a first-of-its-kind initiative with the sole purpose of improving fishing access for current and future generations.

There are several methods we can utilise to create angler access, but in recent years, the greatest successes have been realised by using the following technique:

  1. Purchase land with valuable angler access.
  2. Add easements to the property title, ensuring public access in perpetuity.
  3. Sell the property (now with enduring public access) and return the money to the fund.

The Angler Access Fund has already been used to purchase a property on Stone Jug Road, which has provided anglers with over 3 km of fishing on the treasured Whakapapa River.
