Northland Hunting Permit Request

Hunters who want to hunt on Fish & Game wetlands or forestry lands, must apply for a permit which allows them to carry a firearm and use a dog on those properties.

Hunters must contact the Northland Fish & Game Office with their details or select here to fill in the request form and pay for their permit (see fees listed in form below) and a deposit for any gate keys (Jack Bisset Wetland, Kawakawa Wetland).

A permit is required for each licence holder and does not cover a party or group of hunters.

Hunters requiring a permit must provide the following details: 

• Name, address and phone number(s)
• Game bird licence number
• Firearms licence number
• Date of Birth
• Name of dog(s), breed(s), tag registration number(s) 

Each permit will be issued a Hunter Survey Form, which must be returned to our office at the end of the game season. Hunters are required to return these forms as the information is an important tool in future management decisions.

All permits issued are accompanied with a map detailing the areas open to hunting.

The fees associated with hunting in forests owned and managed by Manulife Investment Management, Matariki Forests and Northland Forest Managers Ltd are to cover processing fees and public liability insurance.
