Parliament needs to hear from the people who actually fish and hunt. Even a short submission makes a difference.
Don't wait. Submit before Friday.
Option 1: Share your story
The select committee needs to hear directly from anglers and hunters. Your personal experience is powerful evidence that politicians need to understand. Write a few paragraphs about why you love fishing or game bird hunting in New Zealand, what healthy rivers, lakes and wetlands mean to you and your family, and what you want future generations to experience.
You don't need technical knowledge – just share what these places and activities mean to you. Please include a request that the committee amend the Bills to recognise hunting and angling values and the species and habitats we value.
Upload your story directly to Parliament's website and email us a copy at media@fishandgame.org.nz so we can share your message and encourage others.
Option 2: Make a detailed submission If you want to recommend specific changes to clauses in the bills, we've prepared a comprehensive breakdown of key issues and solutions.
Our detailed guide covers recognition of hunters’ and anglers’ values, protection of healthy habitat for trout, salmon and game birds, access for hunters and anglers, wetlands protection and definition, recognition of Sports Fish and Game Management Plans, Water Conservation Orders, and enforcement powers.
You can use our analysis to craft your own submission addressing the topics that matter most to you, whether that's habitat protection, wetland restoration, or ensuring Fish & Game can continue its statutory advocacy role.
Upload a detailed submission directly to Parliament's website here.
