Taranaki ringplain
Many ringplain streams had a much-needed but minor fresh on Sunday morning 25th February which freshened them up and reduced water temperatures back into the range preferred by trout.
All streams and rivers are now back at low flow and very fishable.
Cicada are now at their peak and an imitation drifted down foamlines, through pocket water or cast to feeding fish should be well received.
Fishing the middle and upper reaches of streams will be most productive.
A well-conditioned rainbow trout.
Ruapehu
Waimarino streams have had a series of minor freshes over the last 30 days which have kept them in good condition for angling.
Like the ringplain streams, they had a minor fresh on Sunday morning, but are now back at low flow.
Water temperatures are currently in the 13 – 17 oC range, so there should be plenty of trout-feeding activity.
