2023 Taranaki Special Game Bird Season For Paradise Shelduck

The 2023 Taranaki special season for paradise shelduck applies in Area C only.

There is no special season in Area A (Waimarino) and Area B (Whanganui). 

This year the season has been extended to 3 weekends, including Taranaki Anniversary Weekend (total 7 days hunting).

DATES:             25TH & 26TH February 2023

                          4TH & 5TH March 2023

                          11th, 12th, 13th March 2023

LIMIT:                10 paradise shelduck per hunter per day

HOURS:            6:30 am to 8:00 pm

A 2022 Game bird hunting licence and Permit must be carried while hunting.
A permit/diary costs $5 and can be obtained from

- Hawera – Tasman Marine
- Stratford – Magnum Sports
- New Plymouth – Taranaki Hunting & Fishing

And the

- Whanganui and New Plymouth Offices of Taranaki Fish and Game

Hunters who do not have a 2022 game bird hunting licence can purchase a day licence online at www.fishandgame.org.nz or from your local licence retailer. 

An adult day licence costs $23.00, and a junior day licence will cost $8.00
