Want to learn how to fish for trout, salmon and perch? Sign up for a free evening theory class on freshwater fishing, followed by a field trip to try your hand at fishing.
Otago Fish & Game is running adult beginner spin-fishing classes before the 2024/2025 fishing season. Learn about fish species, rods, lures, knots, where to go, licences, regulations and more.
Each participant will attend one evening theory class and a field trip.

All fishing gear is provided but you can bring your own.
Adult beginner fishing classes are for ages 18 and above.

Take A Kid Fishing is returning to Southern Reservoir in Dunedin.
Otago Fish & Game will run four sessions from 10am to noon on September 21, 22, 28 and 29.
This a free annual event for children aged 3 to 17 to get them outdoors and fishing.
Due to popular demand, participants may register for one day only.
Numbers are limited to 140 children per event.
