Want to learn how to fish for trout, salmon and perch? Sign up for a free evening theory class on freshwater fishing, followed by a field trip to try your hand at fishing.

Otago Fish & Game is running adult beginner spin-fishing classes before the 2024/2025 fishing season. Learn about fish species, rods, lures, knots, where to go, licences, regulations and more.

Each participant will attend one evening theory class and a field trip.

Dunedin Beginner Adult Fishing Classes

Cromwell Beginner Adult Fishing Class

Theory:
Date: Friday September 13th (Now Full)

Please note there will be a maximum of 12 people per evening theory class.

All fishing gear is provided but you can bring your own.

Adult beginner fishing classes are for ages 18 and above.

Saturday 21, Sunday 22, Saturday 28 September is now full.

Take A Kid Fishing is returning to Southern Reservoir in Dunedin.

Otago Fish & Game will run four sessions from 10am to noon on September 21, 22, 28 and 29.

This a free annual event for children aged 3 to 17 to get them outdoors and fishing.

Due to popular demand, participants may register for one day only.

Numbers are limited to 140 children per event.
