Waioeka River access notice - Fish & Game

Waioeka River access notice

Waioeka River access notice

Fish & Game Eastern Region has advised that many of the access tracks to portions of the Waioeka River (SH2) are currently partly blocked with roading rock (fill).

Anglers are still able to access the river on foot by parking on or near the road side and walking to fishing locations.

Fish & Game has notified necessary parties and it is hoped that this situation will be remedied shortly.

Staff are also reminding anglers that local river systems have suffered the effects of a harsh, wet winter.

Fish size and condition is poorer than seen recently which is likely due to poorer food availability.
