Bendigo Wildlife Management Reserve

The 152ha Bendigo Wildlife Management Reserve is at the head of Lake Dunstan, near Bendigo. The wetland features extensive shallow water areas, braided river channels, islands and lagoons in the upper Clutha River delta. Access is via a boat ramp on the eastern shoreline off State Highway 8, or the adventurous may venture on foot around the wetland edges.

Otago Fish & Game has begun a restoration project at the reserve, removing some willows to improve game bird habitat and planting native riparian plants.

Note: Black swans are protected in the Central Otago area above the Clutha Dam.
